چکیده
In subtropical regions, we have an incomplete understanding of how long-term tillage, stubble, and nitrogen (N) fertilizer management affects soil biological functioning. We examined a site managed for 50 years using varying tillage (conventional till (CT) no-till (NT)), stubble (stubble burning (SB) retention (SR)), N fertilization (0 (N0), 30 (N30), 90 (N90) kg ha?1 y?1) to assess their impact on microbial respiration, easily extractable glomalin-related protein (EEGRSP), mineralization. A significant three-way × interaction was observed with NT+SB+N0 treatments generally releasing the highest amounts CO2 over incubation period (1135 mg/kg), NT+SR+N0 lowest (528 mg/kg). contrast, both EEGRSP mineralization, concentrations (2.66 ± 0.86 g kg?1) mineralization (30.7 mg/kg) in SR+N90 treatments. Furthermore, also positively correlated (R2 = 0.76, p < 0.001), indicating that can potentially be used as index availability. Overall, this study has shown SR positive

1 Agricultural management plays an important role in global warming mitigation due to 2 its effects on soil organic carbon (SOC) dynamics. In Mediterranean agroecosystems, 3 the interactive effects of tillage and N fertilization on SOC storage have scarcely been 4 studied. Hence, we here present a modelling study in which the effects of both tillage 5 and N fertilization on SOC dynamics are inv...
متن کاملLong – Term Tillage and Manure Effect on Soil Physical and Chemical Properties and Carbon and Nitrogen Mineralization Potentials
The objective of this work was to study the effects of tillage and liquid manure applications on some physical and chemical properties as well as on the carbon and nitrogen mineralization potential of a meadow soil. Our results indicated that tillage and manure applications had no effect on the concentration of Cu, Mn, total N and organic C in 0-15 cm layer of soil after 15 years of treatment. ...
متن کاملNitrogen Fertilization of Wheat No-Till Planted in Alfalfa Stubble
The N available after legumes is sufficient for maximum crop yields in many cropping systems. Fertilizing without accounting for the "extra" N mineralized from legume residues can contribute to high nitrate-N concentrations in the soil during crop production and increase nitrate-N leaching potential. Tillage practices also affect the physical, biological, and chemical nature of the soil, changi...
متن کاملTillage, cover crops, and nitrogen fertilization effects on soil nitrogen and cotton and sorghum yields
Sustainable soil and crop management practices that reduce soil erosion and nitrogen (N) leaching, conserve soil organic matter, and optimize otton and sorghum yields still remain a challenge. We examined the influence of three tillage practices (no-till, strip till and chisel till), four cover rops {legume [hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth)], nonlegume [rye (Secaele cereale L.)], vetch/rye bicu...
